September to December
Last term we had some very exciting learning when we looked at 'Under the Sea'.
There were lots of fabulous art opportunities and an amazing day out at the aquarium.
In English we looked at the original version of 'The little Mermaid' by Hans Christian Andersen. The children made some lovely stories of their own!
In science we studied habitats especially those involving the Sea Anemone! They loved the Clown Fish. Nemo!
January to March
This term our topic was 'Space'.
We looked at Neil Armstrong's life, including landing on the moon in 1969!
We studied our solar system and the planets within it.
In art we made space ships, flying saucers, stars and marble effect planets.
'Man on the Moon (a day in the life of Bob)' and 'Toys in Space' were the books we worked from in English.
We learned about our punctuation and grammar and non-fiction pieces of writing.
Keep checking back to see what we will be doing with these crazy photographs!!
April to June
This term our topic is fairy tales. Focusing on one in particular - Jack and the Beanstalk!
In English we have read various versions of the book and by the end of term, we will write our own.
In science, we are looking at plants. We have already grown cress, mung beans and gladiolus. The children will be learning how and why seeds are dispersed. They will also carry out an investigation on germination.
Vincent Van Gogh is the artist we are learning about this term. We will be using pencil, paint and oil pastels to make our own version of 'Sunflowers' (watch this space for photos!)
Your child should bring their book bag each day. It should contain their reading book, reading record, homework folder and spelling book.
