Wednesday is PE- please ensure your child has a PE kit in school. This should be a plain blue or white t-shirt with dark shorts or trousers.

In History we will be looking at the Victorian era. We will find out what it was like to be a child at school and why some children went to work. We will also be looking at some important 'explorers' throughout History.

In Geography we will be finding out how the Victorians changed travel, where they went on holiday and using maps to look at the similarities and differences of landscapes. We will also be looking at how railways and bridges have changed over time.

In RE we will be looking at the religion of Islam. We will be looking at what Muslims believe, places of worship and a significant festival for Muslims.

We turned our class into a Victorian classroom for the morning! Who is caught wearing the Dunce's hat?

The Great Fire of London

We will be learning about how the fire started and why it spread so quickly. We will be talking about the importance of Samuel Pepys during the events that took place. Why do you think he was an important person during the Great Fire?

In our English lessons we will be writing letters, diaries, newspapers and much more. We are thinking about how to use questions and exclamations to make our writing more interesting. We are also trying to improve our vocabulary through homework- Please support your child with these activities!

If your child loses their homework I will put copies in the English section at the bottom of the page.

In science we will be looking at materials. We will investigate their properties and link this to how the fire spread so quickly.

In art we worked hard to build the city of London. Then we set fire to the bakery to see how the fire would have spread across the city in 1666. We were all very excited!

Fire Service Visit

Year 2 were lucky enough to have the fire service come in for a visit. While they were here, we discussed fire safety in and around our homes, how to keep safe and what to check for to keep our homes safe. We were also given Blaze, our fire safety bear, to go home with us to help check the fire safety in our own homes.
