Well Done Reception!
Well done to all Fireflies and Bumblebees for settling in so well during their first couple of weeks in school. We have made lots of new friends and have had so much fun! We look forward to a super year together
Important dates for the Diary.
Tuesday 27th September 8:45am - Parent Phonic Information session
Thursday 20th October 8:30am - Harvest Festival
Thursday 24th November- Christingle
We really value the support that our parents give us with their child’s reading and recognise how much this helps with their progress. We recommend that children read for a short time as often as possible at home
All children have a reading diary to keep in their book bags. Please could we ask parents to sign the diary each time they read together and add a short comment if they wish. When your child reaches 25/50/75/100/150/175/200 nights they will receive a certificate and sticker!
Children will be given a new reading book on a Monday and Thursday if they have read at home.
Key Words and Phonics
Children will bring home key words and letter sounds books to practise with you at home. Please keep these in their book bags at all times.
Reading in School
Children will be heard to read regularly by an adult both individually and in groups. We therefore ask that book bags are brought into school everyday!
Phonics information session
Tuesday 27th September 8:45am in the school hall
Please feel free to come along to this session for more information about how we teach Phonics and support and guidance with reading books.
Please take the time to work on your number formation books and rhymes at home.
In Reception children have continuous access to the outdoors. We would be grateful if your child could have a waterproof coat and some wellies in school at all times. Please ensure that all clothes have your child's name on them. It is so much easier to find the owner of lost property when it is labelled clearly.
PE is EVERY Friday, please remember to bring in your PE kits. This includes black shorts and jogging bottoms, a white T shirt, daps and trainers. PE kits can be left in school and will be sent home every half term to be washed.
Pots of Gold
In Reception we value your contribution to your child's learning. We would love to hear about all of your children's achievements outside of school, from getting a medal at football to learning to ride their bike! Use our POTS OF GOLD and send them in with your child, we will celebrate their achievements and display it on our wall for all to see!
Please can we ask that all toys from home do NOT come into school as they children are losing them and some are getting broken. Thank you ! Any toys that do come into school will be put into the cupboard for the rest of the day.
Check List For Parents:
Please remember to name all of your children's clothes/coats/P.E. clothes
Please bring in your child's book bag daily with their book and reading record
Wellington Boots and P.E. bags should be in school
Please do not put drinks bottles in book bags

Term 3 topic is Fairytales
We have been looking at the story 'Goldilock and the Three Bears and 'The Gingerbread man'.
This term in maths we have been exploring - Space, shape and Measures.
Comparing the length, weight and height of different objects learning to use the correct mathematical language.
We compared the characters in each story and looked at the similarities and differences.
We all preferred the Gingerbread man story the best!
Shapes are all around us. We can name lots of shapes and describe their properties.
