Our Focus book this week is 'The Enormous Turnip'.
We discovered that turnips are vegetables that not many of us had seen before or eaten so we have been using our senses to explore different types of vegetables. We discovered they felt and smelt very different when they were cooked.
We loved rolling the turnip across the playground and measuring how far they had travelled. We thought we could use blocks to measure but realise we did not have enough so used a teachers footstep.
We loved acting out the story. We discussed how we had to work together and be a team to pull the turnip up.
Our focus book this week is
JACK AND THE BEANSTALK
This week we have enjoyed reading Jack and the Beanstalk. We used the puppets to retell the story before we had a go at writing it.
In Maths we have been comparing the length of different length beanstalks and we have been looking out for different patterns in our environment.
We are very good at making our own repeating patterns using lego bricks and vegetables to paint patterns.
A group of children from Reception will be representing Seven Field's at
'Make a noise' music festival at The Platform on Monday 26th March.
Term 3 topic is Fairytales
We have been looking at the story 'Goldilock and the Three Bears and 'The Gingerbread man'.
This term in maths we have been exploring - Space, shape and Measures.
Comparing the length, weight and height of different objects learning to use the correct mathematical language.
We compared the characters in each story and looked at the similarities and differences.
We all preferred the Gingerbread man story the best!
Shapes are all around us. We can name lots of shapes and describe their properties.
